About

This is what you’ll find here:

  • Blog – This is basically just an internet cupboard. It has no particular theme or reason to exist other than giving me somewhere to put my thoughts and things that I find.
  • Magpies – I’m writing a story with a magpie-human creature in it, and I’m looking for anything magpie-related that might be helpful.
  • Day Job – I work in charity communications, and I love it; all the pleasure of using your intelligence and creativity without the soul-blackening side effects of selling people things they don’t need.
  • Links – Lots of time spent online means I have amassed a tangled treasure trove of interesting links and resources on communications, London, feminism, fairytales and many shades of geekery.
  • Music – I don’t make it, but I love it and listen to it a lot. Here are some things you can listen to, and places you might like to go for more.

About Me

I’m Sarah, a geeky ex-country girl turned city dweller, die-hard charity shopper and cake fancier living in Leytonstone and working as Communications Officer for human rights group Liberty. I’m also a newbie trustee for amazing charity Education for Choice. If you’d like to know more about my work, have a look at my LinkedIn profile.

Things I like: robots, gender, the uncanny, democratic socialism, biscuits, indiepop, comics, cities, forests, fairytales and making things.

Why Applejackson?

Well, it’s a hybrid of my surname and my favourite My Little Pony (the tomboy, natch)
